Mommy Makeover Series: Recovery

It goes without saying: a healthy recovery is the key to breathtaking outcomes. When you’re targeting many areas like the breasts, abdomen, and the thighs, it’s essential to make sure you have the peace and rest that your body needs. In the last entry from our series on the Mommy Makeover, we’re going to discuss the best way to have a successful recovery.

Take Time Off

While the Mommy Makeover allows you to get the recovery of many different procedures completed all at once, it’s still a combination of many invasive procedures, and it’s important to give yourself the proper amount time to heal and recover. Burt & Will’s surgeons are incredibly invested in your recovery, and they will personally approve your return to work to make sure you’re healthy enough to regain your routine.

Be at Your Best Health

The healthier your body is, the easier it will heal. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water and that you’re getting the right amount of nutrients every single day. A common side effect of surgery is a sensitive stomach, so make sure you’re eating light foods like crackers and soups.

Prepare, Prepare, Prepare

It’s not recommended that you shop for supplies AFTER the procedure. That means that prescription medicine, food, other medical supplies should be procured before the procedure so that you can completely focus on resting rather than having to make a trip to the grocery store or pharmacy. Make sure you’re all stocked up on easy-to-prepare food like Jelly, fresh fruit, bottled water, crackers, and other supplies like bandages, extra pillows, vitamins, wet napkins, antibacterial soaps, and more.

Make Your Comfort Zone

The first few days of your recovery will involve bed rest, so most patients create a “comfort zone” where they can rest comfortably and have everything they need within reach. Make sure to stock your resting place with entertainment like books or a tablet, a flashlight for bathroom trips, pajamas that open from the front, extra pillows, your phone, alarm clocks, remotes, and any other supplies that you might need for your day-to-day care.

Your Family Is Here to Help

Running a household is no easy task, and it’s downright impossible if you’re recovering from a Mommy Makeover. In the first couple of weeks of your recovery, it’s essential that you don’t undergo any strenuous activity of lift heavy objects. It’s highly recommended that patients who are recovering from the Mommy Makeover have help with daily housekeeping and childrearing, whether it’s a nanny, a family member, or your partner.

As helpful these tips can be, the most helpful guidance for your recovery will come from a compassionate surgeon that has extensive experience with the Mommy Makeover. For a chance to work with a renowned plastic surgeon, contact Burt & Will.
