Unveil Beautiful Arms with an Arm Lift

Droopy upper arms are very unsightly and obvious. It is hard to cover the sagging skin in the summer months when short sleeve shirts and tank tops are a must. Naperville female plastic surgeon Dr. Tripti Burt offers all of her male and female patients arm lift surgery.

Arm lift surgery eliminates fat pockets and redundant skin. Also known as brachioplasty, Dr. Burt is very skilled at performing this procedure and giving you tight, toned upper arms that you will love.

Are You a Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift surgery is very common among individuals who have skin laxity as a result of aging; it is also common among women following pregnancy and among patients who have lost a lot of weight and now have excess, stretched skin hanging from the upper arms. You must be healthy and close to your ideal weight to have this procedure. If you are planning on losing a lot of weight or undergoing a weight loss procedure, it is best to wait to have arm lift surgery. Dr. Burt will help you make educated decisions during your one-on-one consultation at her Naperville cosmetic surgery office.

Arm Lift Surgery Procedure

Dr. Burt performs arm lift surgery under general anesthesia at an accredited outpatient surgical center. You may be in surgery anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the amount of tissue and fat that needs to be removed. To start the operation, Dr. Burt creates incisions that extend from the underarm to just above the elbow. Some patients who have minor skin sagging may only need a small incision located in the lower part of the armpit. Dr. Burt will inform you which incision is most appropriate in your situation. She will also talk to you about how to care for your incisions after surgery, and will discuss scarring. After creating the appropriate incisions, Dr. Burt will use liposuction to break up and remove any fat deposits. She will then trim the excess skin, tighten the remaining skin and suture it in place. This will give you the slim, tight arms you desire. Arm lift surgery can be performed on its own, or as part of a mommy makeover or massive weight loss body contouring procedure.

What to Expect During Recovery

Arm lift surgery is associated with mild postoperative swelling and bruising, which should subside within two weeks. Any postoperative discomfort is relieved with pain medication, and bandages and sutures are removed within the first week, after which time you can return to work and other non-strenuous activities. The final results are usually visible within six weeks. During recuperation, Dr. Burt will closely monitor your progress and provide important aftercare instructions along the way. Once you are fully healed, you will be able to enjoy your newly sculpted arms and confidently wear tank tops and short sleeve clothing.
